The plant-based meat market in Australia and New Zealand has grown significantly in the last four years. According to a recent report, the number of local brands offering such products has increased from less than five in 2017 to more than 30 in 2021. The variety of products has also expanded, from fewer than 90 to nearly 300, covering different types of meat alternatives.
The demand for convenience drives the availability of products such as meatballs, mince, nuggets, and deli slices. Plant-based meats that can be used for various recipes — such as whole cuts, strips, and chunks — are also gaining popularity, but they are still scarce in the market.
