In a future vision, Winston Churchill imagined that “we shall escape the absurdity of growing a whole chicken in order to eat the breast or wing, by growing these parts separately under a suitable medium.” He was essentially foreseeing and describing what is now known as lab-grown meat (or cultivated or cultured meat, as the emerging industry and advocates prefer to call it).
