Changing tastes and the worsening climate crisis pushed plant-based foods further into conventional spaces in 2023. The U.S. has already faced 25 climate-related disasters this year, each causing over $1 billion in losses, as reported by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration.
The report arrived a month after a study in Nature Food revealed that a hamburger has a climate footprint 20 times larger than a veggie burger. According to research published in July, individuals who consume vegan meals generate 75% less greenhouse gas emissions and cause less harm to land, water, and biodiversity compared to those who eat animal-based meals.
According to FAIRR, climate change could push 40 top animal-based meat and milk processors into financial losses by 2030, with a $23 billion profit drop. According to AI predictions in November, there is a possibility that by 2075, most of the world could transition to veganism due to the current rate of culinary change.
