Bene Meat Technologies’ Lab-Grown Meat Revolution

The innovative company Bene Meat Technologies, based in the Czech Republic, has recently unveiled initial samples of its lab-grown meat product designed for pet consumption. Bene Meat Technologies has been dedicated to the development of its innovative product since the year 2020. Presently, the firm is in the process of seeking a collaborative partnership with an established industry entity. This partnership aims to facilitate the distribution and availability of their novel product across various markets, with the goal of launching by the year’s end.

The implications of Bene Meat Technologies’ work are vast, promising a future where meat production is more efficient, less resource-intensive, and free from the ethical concerns associated with conventional animal farming. As the company progresses towards its late 2024 product release, it stands as a beacon of innovation in the biotechnology space, potentially leading to a new era of sustainable and humane food production.

During a conversation with Petfood Industry, Tomaš Kubeš, who co-founded the company, shared insights from the Interzoo 2024 event held in Nuremberg, Germany. The highlight was the unveiling of their latest innovation: a selection of cultivated meat chunks in gravy formulated specifically for feline and canine diets, produced through cellular cultivation techniques.

Our company is at the forefront of incorporating lab-grown meat into animal feed, and we are in search of collaborators who are eager to combine their efforts with ours,” stated Kubeš. “Our goal is to form an alliance with a producer of pet food who is willing to utilize our cultivated meat as a base ingredient, transforming it into market-ready pet food products.”

In a controlled lab environment, utilizing bioreactors, the foundational substance is crafted. This process involves the gentle extraction of cells from a live creature, which are then cultivated in a substance abundant with nutrients. This information is based on insights provided by the emerging company.

Vendula Kučerová, who oversees sales and marketing strategy at the company, has indicated that Bene Meat Technologies is anticipating the launch of their new product by the end of 2024, aiming for availability across multiple markets.

The enthusiasm for our product is palpable, owing to its distinctive array of advantages. She elaborated, stating, “Foremost among these is the product’s benign nature towards all animals, its sustainability credentials, and its composition—both unadulterated and protein-dense. Convincing canines, and felines in particular, to adopt a vegetarian diet often proves challenging. This issue is effectively addressed by our lab-grown meat offering.”

Toward the end of 2024, Bene Meat Technologies is set to inaugurate a novel production site dedicated to the creation of lab-grown meat. This facility will focus on producing batches for testing, providing samples, and conducting product development initiatives in collaboration with its commercial allies.

Polish facility to be opened by Belgian pet food manufacturer in 2025

United Petfood of Belgium is progressing with the development of its latest manufacturing site in Jedlińsk, Poland, with aspirations to finalize the project within the forthcoming year.

In the proposed strategy, the firm is set to allocate 180 million Polish Zloty (equivalent to 45.5 million US dollars) towards the manufacturing initiative. This development is based on details reported by the regional news outlet Echodnia.eu. With this investment, United Petfood is poised to expand its existing facilities in Jedlińsk by an extra 8,000 square meters (approximately 86,100 square feet), enhancing its production capacity at the site where it currently has operational premises.
