The concept of consuming meat developed in a lab setting is a topic that has sparked varied reactions. A survey conducted by Statista’s Consumer Insights found that people are split on the issue. This type of meat, referred to as cultivated or cultured, originates from animal cells that are typically harvested through a biopsy. The cells are then nurtured in a nutrient-rich environment to grow meat independently of the animal.
Cultivated meat could potentially be a solution for individuals who are mindful of animal rights or the environmental footprint of the traditional meat industry, given that its creation does not necessitate the rearing or killing of animals.
This visual data representation indicates that lab-grown meat has yet to win over the majority. In India, 20% of those polled expressed a readiness to sample this innovative cuisine, whereas a mere 9% in France reported a similar openness.
In the United States, one of the duo of nations actively selling this product (the other being Singapore), 16% of the populace showed a willingness to incorporate it into their diet. However, the prospect of this form of meat gracing European dining tables in the near future remains slim, given the absence of any formal requests for market approval within the European Union.
