Due to the increasing demands of cat owners, the options for cat food and treats are expanding rapidly. Among the most prominent trends in the food industry, functional foods and premium diets, such as raw food, are gaining significant traction. However, it cannot be denied that wet food continues to be a popular choice among consumers. When cat owners see the value in what they are receiving, they are often willing to pay more.

“Cat owners are looking to upgrade their pet’s food at a tremendous rate that I have not seen in my 13 years in the industry,” said Jeremy J. Petersen, founder, president and CEO of Identity Pet Nutrition in Windsor, Colo. “Price is no longer the biggest concern.”

Petersen has mentioned that he is also witnessing a shift in consumer preference towards functional foods.
