The quintet of innovative enterprises has been chosen to pioneer the advancement of sustainably sourced marine white fish from wild environments; they are also creating a cutting-edge mycelium-based platform that facilitates the production of lab-grown meat and seafood. Additionally, these startups are formulating pet nourishment composed of lab-cultivated components, as well as business-to-business protein substances derived from microalgae and water lentils. These endeavors reflect a commitment to sustainable and ethical food technology.

1. Friends & Family Pet Food Company (USA)

In a collaborative effort, Joshua Errett, previously associated with Because, Animals, has joined forces with Jonny Cruz and Dr. Sarah Dodd to establish a pioneering venture. This venture is at the forefront of innovating pet food by harnessing the potential of yeast and other cultivated components. Their goal is to create a line of pet food that not only fulfills the protein needs of felines and canines but also ensures the inclusion of vital amino acids.

2. Atlantic Fish Co (USA)

In 2022, the inception of Atlantic Fish Co marked a new chapter in sustainable seafood practices. Established by entrepreneurs Doug Grant and Trevor Ham, the company is dedicated to the responsible farming of oceanic white fish varieties, including sea bass, snapper, flounder, and grouper. Their approach emphasizes the importance of wild-caught methods to ensure the freshness and quality of their offerings. Atlantic Fish Co’s commitment to these principles not only supports marine ecosystems but also provides consumers with premium seafood products.
