The Berlin-based Lite & Fog has created vertical farms that are not only visually stunning, but also highly innovative. The farms use a novel approach to vertical farming that combines zero-gravity irrigation, ultrasound and AI to optimize plant growth, ideal for producing cultivated meat.
The company also envisions other uses for its technology. “Our machines will revolutionize the pharmaceutical, cosmetic, and agricultural industries”, says Martin Peter, ceo and co-founder of Lite & Fog.
Lite&Fog is a company that specializes in vertical farming, a method of growing plants that are genetically modified to produce useful substances such as proteins, medicines, or other compounds. The company’s vertical farms allow the plants to grow in sterile conditions, without the need for conventional soil, by using thin, fabric-based supports and feeding them with fog enriched with nutrients.
This eliminates the use of pesticides. The company’s business model is based on selling the equipment rather than the plants. “We are machine makers”, Peter says.
